Generation & Dissemination Library services Information Activities Future plans Publications

This page describes the information services provided by IOEH.

Generation & Dissemination

IOEH is currently investing lot of efforts and financial resources in order to speed up generation of information on Occupational Health & Safety. Latvia as any other country from former Soviet Union has lived in a community lacking information on many things including Occupational Health & Safety. This is certainly is a very challanging task requiring lots of efforts and money. It is also very important to note that IOEH is the largest provider of information on Occupational Health & safety in Latvia. IOEH has currently choosed several approaches in order to generate and disseminate maximum amount of information. Most typical approaches includes:

Dissemination of the information generated is also a very challenging task. IOEH is gradually acquiring skills on information dissemination by creating a data basis on institutions and professionals interested in information on Occupational Health & Safety. IOEH is also eager to collaborate with other institutions of OHS in order to provide them with information available.

Library services

Besides the generation and dissemination of new information IOEH is currently working on clasiffication of library materials available on IOEH. A small library is open now available for staff & students and later. It will be open for public later. IOEH has certainly the largest library in Latvia on materials of Occupational Health & Safety. This features books, magazines, articles, newsletters, video tapes and etc.. The library is organised in premises of IOEH and features short catalogue and lending services as well as article copies.

Information Activities

IOEH are actively trying to introduce different information activities on Occupational Health & Safety issues. A lot of efforts are invested in identification of target area for these activites. Currently IOEH are working on a project that will provide extensive information on benefits of Occupational Health & Safety for employers called - "Good Health - good bussines". It is planned to reach most of Latvian employers providing them with information. Of course large scale activites like this one is done in collaboration with other institutions - in this case with Free Trade Union Federation of Latvia.

Future plans
