HMP? (How Much Personalities?) is one
of the best known Latvian new generation band. It was founded in
Riga in the summer of 1994, when musicians from two well-known
Latvian groups Zig- Zag and F.Art decided to join together. The
average age of the musicians is 22. The style of HMP? could be
defined as a mixture of grunge, punk rock, heavy rap & funk.
The group has performed in clubs around Latvia, it has taken part
in several music festivals in Latvia (Rock Against Drugs, Rock
Against Militarism), as well as made some demo recordings in
"Riga Sound Recording Studio", "Studio 55"
and "GEM studio". In the summer of 96 HMP? played more
than 20 concerts around Latvia, they have also taken part in
festivals - "Rock Summer 96", "Liepajas
Dzintars" (most famous rock festival in Latvia since
1976),"Youth Against the Nazis" (Wroclaw, Poland.). In
May of 1997, the debut album called "Blue" was released
by Microphone Records, EMI licensee company in Baltic States. In
October, 1997 HMP? performed in festival "Operation B",
Tallinn, Estonia. Headline artists of this festival were a
well-known Swedish group "Clawfinger". Appearance in
this festival was followed by an invitation to perform in
festival "Rock Non Stop", which took place at the end
of November of 1997 in Polva, Estonia. In October, 1997 a single
of remix version of track "The Glove" was released, the
author of which is DJ SUN. The single was highly valued in EMI
branches in England, Germany, USA, Japan and Republic of South
Africa.
